Beauty and the Beast

A tale as old as time better known as Beauty and the Beast was released in theaters on November 22nd, 1991. This classic film tells a story of a beautiful young girl who is the outcast in her provincial French town because of her intelligence. This young girl is Belle (Paige O’Hara) who is being chased by the narcissistic and handsome Gaston (Richard White) and his sidekick LeFou (Jesse Corti). Meanwhile, Belle’s father Maurice (Rex Everhart) is off to an inventors convention when he gets lost in the woods. Maurice and Philippe are attacked by wolves when Maurice stumbles ups strange and dark castle as Philippe takes off back towards home. Maurice enters the castle carefully discovering the enchanted Cogsworth (David Ogden Stiers), Lumière (Jerry Orbach), Mrs. Potts (Angela Lansbury) and Chip (Bradley Pierce) when the Beast (Robby Benson), master of the castle scares them and throws the old man into the tower.
In the meantime, Philippe the family horse, gets back to town. Belle, worried her father didn’t come back, hops on and is taken to the castle. Looking for her father she follows Lumière without knowing. Beast catches Belle, who trades her freedom for Maurice’s. Maurice is throwout of the Castle and quickly goes to get Gaston and the townsfolk.
Back at the castle, Belle and Beast struggle to get to know each other and ultimately falling in love. But not before Belle finds out Gaston’s plan to throw her father in an asylum to marry him. Belle is granted her freedom back to save her father but that turned Gaston and the townsfolk on the Beast, who marched to the castle and fought the enchanted objects. The castle inhabitants win as Beast is wounded and the last pedal on the enchanted rose falls, the reason to why the beast and his enchanted objects are the way they are. Belle kisses Beast which breaks the spell. Beast and all the enchanted objects turn back to human.
Another classic film which just had a live action remake. Love this film, it does get a little dark but not as dark as other disney films. Very catchy songs, comical and Belle is the most relatable princess in my opinion. However there were lots of plot holes until the live action film. 3.5/5
